Our Little CJ in the cutest Sunday suit his Nana got him. This is the blanket/quilt that I made for CJ. I finally finished it. That is the problem with starting a project in the middle of a move. It only took three months for me to do the final stitching.
Now, Here's a question to all you parents out there--Do you have any tips for picky eaters? Right now, Emma Jane only wants to eat hot dogs, bologne, cheese, scrambled eggs, bread, pancakes and mac and cheese. Any other meal that I make, no matter how good it is, she won't even try it. She has become so picky, and it is so frustrating...especially when you spend a lot of time preparing a meal. I don't want to starve her, but I don't want to start a bad habit by catering to whatever she wants. I can't start making a different meal for every kid. I don't want the kids to think that I am a short-order cook. Does any body have any good ideas how to get your kids to eat different food? The airplane trick just isn't cutting it. Please help.

Very cute blanket! And CJ looks so adorable and handsome in his suit!! Cute pict from D-town! Can't wait to go there!! I just think kids won't like things one week and the next week they will. I think just keep trying her out and I usually make one thing that I know Brenna will eat--like green beans or trees. She thinks those are fun to eat for some reason, and then if she doesn't like the main course, at least she got some veggies in. Good luck. That is frustrating. I think they go through phases too.
I have pretty good luck as long as all the food is separate. I have a meat, some veggies, and rice or bread. They can eat it as is or dip it in ketchup or some other sauce if they must. If they just don't want to eat I beg them to take at least 5 giant bites and I usually have to count them in one of several languages and cheer or i bribe them with dessert. good luck. cute blanket and way cute family.
cute blanket and outfit for cj.
okay, so here's my tip. ranch and ketchup and bbq sauce. dipping makes things to much fun. and don't worry so much, kids go through faces. my kids are picky sometimes, then not, picky, not, picky, not...get it? so don't stress. shoot i could always use more tricks.
give her like half a cucumber to naw on while she is watching signing time...or when she is playing outside.
Cute Quilt! CJ looks so growny in his suit. I'm a picky eater myself, so no advice there.
i know that blanket is good. cj has curly hair! i love that outfit, thanks for making my day with those pics.
hot dogs and mac and cheese? i have NO idea who that sounds like? DO YOU? Here is an idea. Buy her some fresh pineapple and/or a fresh peach, a good orange or apple (all of these minus the apple lead to loose stool). How about teach her that we are essentially dirt, and anything that sustains life should taste enjoyable to us. Do you eat green peppers or onions, I think so but to me those tang up any food product. Umm, rice dishes like rice plus cream of mushroom are good. Turkey is always yummy in a sandwich if you use hamburger buns for the bread. And to either of those dishes you can use chicken and some canned mushrooms or some swiss cheese. lindz is right about broccoli, and also one that tastes better is cauliflower (msp). sorry for giving you the rude talk, but I just had my first peach this week! Fresh, probably ever. I am like, we should be living somewhere in between chefs and homeless people : ) or we should be creative like chefs on a minimum wage budget : ) i am biased, i am like just waking up my taste buds. also besides rice, you can always use noodles, like different types like hamburger helper lasagne type noodles or hamburger helper zesty italian type noodles. canned soups such as veg beef or chicken noodle can always fill in. bread, like fresh french bread spec., yeah or rice, you can do stuff with those. and noodles. yeah hamburger helper i used to love that stuff. also loved shakin bake. and there are diff. types of macaroni, ie shapes, extra cheesy, velveeta. cucumbers aren't bad and you can switch between iceburg lettuce and baby spinach. fresh beans are nice. let's see, carrots are healthy. Oh yeah and potatoes, baked, mashed, those are always cheap and filling. and you can make breakfast dinners like mom used to do. or tacos. or sorry i am out. xoxobrand i hope you can just block out my annoying parts by know : )
i know you should call me and i would love to talk to emma jane and tell her that i used to be as picky as her mom ever was and sit at the table until 10 probably a few times cause i wouldn't eat vegetables (ie lettuce). or you can tell her how picky you are, or her nana and how nobody should be pickier than us so she can trust us : )
i know somehow brooke got her kids to get mad if they don't have indian seasoning, and lindz's like will pick out tomatoes to eat them whole (small ones).
Brandon-- I am impressed with all of the food advice. Thanks to everyone for their help. I think it is just a phase b/c tonight she ate more green beans than chicken. I guess it just depends on what mood she is in. I forgot to mention that she loves bananas and grapes, so atleast she is getting some fruit it, right?
HI court! i stalk your bolg adn your sisters' =) anyway, jerry sienfield's wife, Jessica, came up with a creative way to get kids to eat their veggies. She wrote a book about it. you puree veggies and hide them in their food. like in mac and cheese, you mix in pureed squash (it matches) and they never even know it! it was on oprah and she tasted the food and she said you really cant taste the veggies. it has recipes for cookies and all kinds of things.
That sounds awesome. I will have to try it. Thanks!
i love his outfit. i love it when boys are dressed up in there church clothes! sorry no advice for the picky eater
You're lucky she eats that much! Leah is a super pickie eater too. Basically she likes cereal, milk, blueberries, and sometimes chicken nuggets. Good luck. Let me your secret if you find one.
