Our new backyard....

We finally got it done. Luck has not been on our side. First the bobcat got stuck in the dirt we hauled, then the bobcat broke, then it rained, then it rained again and so on. But we finally (2.5 months later) have a place to get bitten by mosquitoes any time we step foot out the backdoor. But at least we can step foot out the backdoor without getting all muddy. There is still a little left to do, but it is mostly done. I'm killing all the shrubs on the right side and then we'll make that a natural area too. Fun, huh?
I still need to make a swing, but that's what will hang from the 4x4's. And the accessories from the playset we got from a garage sale ended up falling apart when I put it together, so some parts are in the mail. The kids love it. Emma Jane goes on the slide over and over.
Here's a better shot of the $60 swingset. Yet, one more thing that I tried to haul by myself that I shouldn't have. It must have provided a good laugh as was traveling down the highway with part of it tied to the roof of our van.
Courtney's garden. I am very excited about this, succeed or fail. (Corn, parsley, lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, peas, green beens, oregano, carrots, cilantro, basil, cucumbers) All you gardeners feel free to comment with some tips.

Dothan Visit

Our camera needs a new part, but while we wait, Nana sent some pics of Court and the kids recent trip to Dothan.
My favorite pic of CJ. He looks older.
Courtney's favorite pic.

Ride 'em Cowgirl!

Noccolula Falls

The second largest waterfall in Alabama (only by a few feet though). There were so many cool things about this park. The train ride, the roaming deer, the pioneer village, the covered bridge, the lion, the bunnies. Oh yeah, and the waterfall. The hike down there was brutal on a bum knee, but worth it. Makes me want to go back when it feels better.

The cow says...
This deer couldn't be put in a cage and didn't seem to mind strangers. One time it got to close too the lion's cage and the lion ran at it. Pretty cool.
Family Christmas photo??
Wes and EJ (as he calls her)
I love this pic of Court and the kids.

100 ft Noccoluula falls. It hs carved a huge cavern behind it. Great for pictures and hiking.

The House...

My family asked me to post pictures of the house. Two months ago. Here they finally are. After most of you have visited.
This is my latest project which I just finished today. Who knew a back door would make such a difference. This is the before and after. (as with all my other projects, the devil is in the details, so don't look too close.)
Ikea's kitchen genius. Waste no space. That wall is the back staircase.

Picture wall in the dining room, far wall (Court's Christmas present).

Picture wall, next to the table (also Court's Christmas present).

Upstairs attic is basically done. I need to add an air return, because the a/c vents are not doing their job. Fortunately the return is in the adjacent room so it shouldn't be too hard to connect.
More playroom. Emma Jane's favorite toy is that trampoline her Nana and Papa got her.
Going up the stairs. I will never go into the drywalling business. It is so hard to do right.
Still need to paint the ceiling, but other than that, the trimwork is done.
We put the dresser on the side of the closet we covered up. Makes the bed space so much nicer. The closets now have doors too.

My Latest Projects

The Haynie bread maker's would be so pleased. It's not an 8 grain or anything but baby steps. It was actually delicious. I was very surprised.
This is my little wall mural that I made. I tried to do it with the kids' hands, but they were not very cooperative.
Anyway, I will post more pictures of the kids soon. Our computer is having issues. Or shall I say HP erased everything off our computer, but that is another story when wounds have healed. :) As for now, HP and I are not on talking terms.

Tons o' Photos

We went hiking with my zoo buddy at a local nature center.
She chased the geese to try and "pet" the gooslings. Momma goose didn't like it. So she reared and hissed and Emma Jane came waddling back.
This is at the "I love Homewood Day" parade. That's why we live here. What other town would have an appreciation day for themselves with a parade. Emma Jane loved it. She's waving to the firemen.
CJ watching the band stroll by...
Courtney and my favorite float.
